A beautiful hand painted French Faience Oyster Plate made by the French pottery workshop of Saint Jean de Bretagne in western France, circa 1950-60s.

Signed and printed by maker on the back.

This distinct colorful plate features traditional Celtic and Breton motifs in a color palette of burnt orange, green and brownish black.

There are six oyster wells with a center well for sauces or lemons accented with greenery sprigs.

The plate is trimmed with a dark brown-black around each well and along the edge and has a hole on the back rim to facilitate hanging.

A well made thick and heavy plate for display in a collection or functional for that next seafood dinner.
